December 2021: Lake Lakengren Area Events & Activities

 

‘Tis the season for celebrating, and Lake Lakengren residents can make their holidays brighter with a variety of special events nearby. Check out the list of December happenings below for an extra helping of holiday cheer:

LAKE LAKENGREN NEIGHBORHOOD


LIGHT UP LAKENGREN - December 13* (*Entry deadline):

It’s a neighborhood Christmas Lights competition, sponsored by Andrew Gaydosh &

Associates. Entries must be received by December 13th, and winners will be announced on December 22nd. Participation is easy! Decorate your house as you normally do - or go all out and try to top your neighbor. You can nominate your own home—or a neighbor’s—for the Grand Prize! The community will vote to select the winners by participating in a community survey to be launched on December 14th, so stay tuned!

UGLY CHRISTMAS SWEATER PARTY - December 17:

Leave your “stylish” self at home, and come to Lake Lakengren’s Ugly Christmas Sweater Party wearing the tackiest Christmas sweater you can find or create!


The party will be at the Lakengren Lodge on Friday, December 17th at 7 p.m. There will be an Ugly Sweater Contest (of course) as well as a DJ!! Admission $10.

FORT ST. CLAIR'S WHISPERING CHRISTMAS - Nightly thru December 31:

Fort St. Clair’s dazzling annual drive-thru light display, Whispering Christmas, is open every evening from 6:00-9:30 p.m., Nov. 26th through Dec 31st. This year’s display, located at 135 Camden Road, features over 2 million lights, has three new additions, and Santa and Mrs. Claus will wave to cars as they drive through Dec. 1st-23rd. Organizers ask for a $5 donation per vehicle to help maintain and improve Fort St. Clair and the Whispering Christmas light display. OXFORD


INTERSCHOLASTIC EQUESTRIAN ASSOCIATION SHOW– December 11:

Upper and Middle School students from the Interscholastic Equestrian Association will be competing for prizes at the Miami University Equestrian Center on Saturday, December 11th. This event is family-friendly and free of charge! The MU Equestrian Center is located at 4950 Oxford Trenton Rd. For more information, call 513-255-4863 or 513-529-4REC.


PUBLIC ICE SKATING– December 11-12, 18-19, & 26:

Spend the afternoon ice skating with friends and family at the Goggin Ice Center! It’s great winter fun for all ages, and skates are available for rent in infant size 6 to adult size 14. Skate Aids are also available for kids ages 9 and under. The Goggin Ice Center is located at 610 South Oak Street. RICHMOND


CHRISTMAS IN THE DEPOT – December 7 & 14:

Christmas in the Depot will be happening on Dec 7th and Dec 14 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.! Family events will include Candy Lane, a visit by Santa, Carriage Rides, Letters to Santa, Christmas Balloon Creations, carolers, and more. New this year will be the Wine Walk (for adults age 21+). CHRISTMAS MODEL TRAINS – December 11-12, 18-19:

Train enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Christmas Model Trains running in the third floor of the Richmond Furniture Gallery from noon to 5 p.m. on December 11th, 12th, 18th, and 19th.
